Privacy Statement

The Privacy Act (1993) has now been repealed and replaced by the Privacy Act (2020).

If you provide personal information through this website we will only use that information in our dealings with you, keep that information secure and not disclose that information to a third party.

Information requests

You may make a request to the Council either orally or in writing, for access to personal information held by Rangitīkei District Council. The Council must make a decision on your request and notify you of the decision as soon as practicable, and in any case not later than 20 working days after receiving your request. Rangitīkei District Council may, in certain circumstances, extend the time limit by notice to you.

Social media moderation policy

We openly welcome your comments and encourage discussion. We ask that you are polite and respectful with your comments and views.

Rangitīkei District Council's social media pages and accounts must not be used for promotional electioneering purposes. Any posts or comments discussing their own, or someone else's nomination or intention to run for council, will be removed. This is applicable to the following:

We reserve the right to hide or remove harmful posts or comments from our pages. This includes any post or comment containing disrespectful, rude, racist, discriminatory or abusive language; direct personal attacks or disclosure of private information or details of elected members or staff, other users or individuals; objectionable material; and unsolicited advertising, marketing or spam.

We reserve the right to remove any comments on posts that aren't related to the subject matter and can potentially derail the conversation.

We reserve to right to turn off commenting if there are multiple breaches of the above policy by multiple people.

If your contributions repeatedly fail to comply with the terms of the platform, and/or the above rules, then you will be blocked from posting to the applicable pages.
