Senior Utilities Manager

This is a specialist role, to provide management and of oversight Council’s Three Waters, Solid Waste and Engineering Services and operational activities. This position will ensure relevant work programmes are delivered in an exemplary manner, to meet council, community and stakeholder expectations in terms of time, cost and quality, as well as the successful delivery of engineering projects, including preventative /predictive maintenance managed programmes
You’ll be a strong leader ready to support and grow a team that will have significant impact across our communities and the organisation. You will develop and foster a continuous improvement mentality within the newly established team. This role will give a platform for a senior manager with the relevant experience, attitude, and qualities to provide real and long-lasting benefits to Rangitīkei.
This is a fulltime permanent position based in Marton, however travel throughout the district will be required.
He aha te mahi| What you will do
- Provide quality leadership and oversight to Operations and Engineering staff and contractors
- Analyse complex utility maintenance issues, evaluate alternative solutions, and recommend a strategic and tactical course of action in conjunction with facility engineering, maintenance/repair and subject matter experts
- Manage emergency, corrective, and preventative/predictive maintenance of utility systems, and lead engineering excellence in the delivery of three waters and solid waste services
- Be a key participant in the preparation of the annual operating plan, as well as managing budgets and delivery of relevant engineering projects
Ko wai to Pukeka| What you will bring
- A tertiary qualification in a related technical field or similar qualification
- Minimum of 10 years relevant experience
- Good knowledge of the Local Government infrastructure/utilities sector
- Proven experience in the management of external suppliers and contractors
- Proven maintenance management and planning experience
- Excellent planning and operational skills
