2019 Local body election summary
Election returns to date (on electionz.com)
The next triennial of local body elections is upon us with the election held on Saturday 12 October (closing at 12pm – lunchtime). Elections will be held for:
1 Mayor
5 Councillors to represent the Central Ward
3 Councillors to represent the Northern Ward
3 Councillors to represent the Southern Ward
4 Members to represent the Rātana Community Board
4 Members to represent the Taihape Community Board
There will also be elections for Regional Council and the Whanganui District Health Board:
2 Members to represent the Manawatu-Rangitikei Constituency of the Horizons Regional Council
1 Member to represent the Ngaruroro Constituency of the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council
7 Members to represent the Whanganui District Health Board

Presentations open to the public on standing for council will be given on Thursday 8 August 2019 at the following venues:
• Taihape Service Centre at 4.00pm
• Rangitikei District Council Office, Marton at 7.00pm
Items to be covered will include how the council is structured, the role and responsibilities of elected representatives, the skills required, anticipated time commitments and meeting schedules and an overview of the nomination and election processes.

If you are enrolled as a parliamentary elector you will automatically be placed on council’s electoral roll as a residential elector. If you need to enrol or update existing name or address details on the parliamentary electoral roll, you can do so at any Post Shop, online at vote.nz or by phoning 0800 36 76 56.
If you pay rates on property within our Council area but live outside the area you may be eligible to enrol as a ratepayer elector. A copy of the ratepayer enrolment form can be downloaded here.
