Who is standing in this 2022 election?

Mayor (1 vacancy)

Berrett, Quinton Murray

Affiliation: Independent
Email:
Mobile:
Address: 723 Wanganui Road, Turakina, Marton
My principal place of residence is in the
Rangitikei District Council area.
I have often said do not trust anyone who seeks a
position of leadership.
It carries with it a heavy burden of responsibility.
As a leader, you become responsible for
everything and everyone, and no matter what you do, you will
offend someone.
No one should want this for themselves, so it is wise to question
their motive.
Are they acting in your best interests or their own?
I also used to believe that people who sought positions of
leadership only did so for one or more of these three reasons:
prestige, money, or power.
I do not seek prestige, money, or power.
I do not seek leadership. I seek change.
I do not wish to lead. I wish to serve.
This is the difference I offer.
That is my motivation to stand for Mayor.
Please ensure you are enrolled to Vote,
Then vote for change.
Let me serve you.

Christison, Dave

Email:
Mobile: 02102355748
Address: 41 Station Road, Marton 4710
My principal place of residence is in the
Rangitikei District Council area.
I love the Rangitikei District and am looking to
serve the district as your mayor.
This district is special, and it deserves the best!
Someone that will fight for fairness and
freedoms.
I am honest, hardworking, and tenacious - with integrity.
In these troubled times of out-of-control inflation, a cost-ofliving
crisis, crippling mandates, insane SNA and RMA
developments and a devious 3 waters proposal, now is the time
to stand-up!
With your support I will join our mayors around the country to
stand up to central government - fight their blatant overreach
and demand our community voice to be heard.
I will fight to ensure efficiencies are made at every level of
council and keep rate rises to a minimum - while protecting
your personal freedoms.
We have huge potential to make the Rangitikei great again!
I value your vote so we can positively grow our district.

My principal place of residence is in the
Rangitikei District Council area. I am also standing
for Central Ward.
I am standing for Mayor and Council because our
community needs better quality development
and decisions.
I have lived in Marton with my partner Felicity for 17 years. My
Physiotherapy and Acupuncture business in Bulls (and previously
Taihape) is a successful service to the community.
I am a family man with 5 adult children, a bridge player and
treasure the communities I have served in health care.
I want to see our Council invest in all the good people that live
here and make the Rangitikei an even better place to live and
work.
We need better value for our rates. Clearer communication
from our Council. Inflationary pressures require prudent and risk
adverse fiscal management.
My strengths lie in listening, inclusiveness, and innovative, clear
and critical thinking.
Your vote for me signals positive change.

Watson, Andy

Email:

Address: 6 Grey Street, Marton 4710
My principal place of residence is in the
Rangitikei District Council area.
I am seeking reelection as Mayor, a role that I
have held for 9 years. My wife Beth and I have 3
children who attended local schools. My
background is in farming and business.
Our district is growing dramatically; something that Council and
I have worked hard to achieve. We have new industries, existing
businesses expanding, and people choosing to move here. This
does not happen by chance, and we must continue to push
forward as we have a great future.
Central Government however are forcing dramatic changes with
reforms including 3 Waters and RMA, also a drop in roading
funding from Government which is huge for our district. We are
in danger of losing our voice and identify. I am in the best
position to argue on your behalf.
I am passionate and proud of the Rangitikei, have extensive
experience, and I ask for your support.

Address: 341 Torere Road, RD3, Taihape 4793
My principal place of residence is in the Taihape

As a result, I have a sound working knowledge of the workings

There are some very important and expensive projects coming
up in Taihape in the near future including the Town Hall, the

In other fields I have been involved with the local high school,
teaching part-time, and community groups including Lions Club,
Victim Support Committee, Drama Club, Car Club, Health Trust
and I currently serve as a Justice of the Peace.
In these changing and challenging times, a fresh and open mind
is needed to navigate a clear path respecting the past; yet
making the most of what changes will bring while minimizing
conflict on an ever tightening budget.
It will be difficult to deliver all of this; but we should strive
towards it and I will ask questions of why and what it takes to
move us closer to this.

wholesomeness of rural life, relationships and
community. I now raise my family here.
I am a professional, registered Social Worker with expertise in
Education, Quality Assurance and Community Wellbeing. I love
working with people to ensure goals are met and this intersects
with positive benefits for tamariki Mäori, tamariki Pasifika, their

Mobile: 027 223 4279
Address: 26 Milne Street, Marton 4710
My principal place of residence is in the Central
Ward area.
Having lived in Marton for more than forty years I
know what a great town it is and also how
unique the Rangitikei District is.
As a second term serving District Councillor I also
know and understand the challenges we face, not only with
new infrastructure but socially and environmentally as well.
Over the next 3 Years our Council and District will need to
navigate its way through a number of reviews or reforms being
undertaken or planned by central Government, these will be
challenging.
Our 10-year long term plan has a number of significant new
infrastructure projects planned with a number already started
including a long overdue new water source and treatment plant
to address the issues around Marton's drinking water.
For all of the above and more I am seeking a third term to be
elected and to represent the Rangitikei District, as a Central
Ward Councillor.

Address: 143 Hendersons Line, RD3, Marton 4789
My principal place of residence is in the Central
Ward area.
I have lived in Marton since 2014. My goal is to
represent ratepayers' best interests in Council's
annual and long-term planning processes.
I totally oppose annual rate rises in Rangitikei.
There are other alternatives such as prioritising, deferral and
cost reductions. To demonstrate my concern on Council rates
increases, I set up the Rangitikei Citizens and Ratepayers Group
on Facebook in April 2022.
I believe Council has to provide real value to ratepayers, citizens
and businesses. I also believe councils should be open in their
discussions and deliberations.
I have a strong background in senior management in an SOE
and private businesses and would bring that to Council. My
business career spans 22 years with Radio New Zealand across
sales management, sports broadcasting and senior management
in Auckland. I was Northern Regional Manager for legal
