Rangitikei Youth Awards 2016 Winners

Rangitikei District Council is celebrating the achievements of our amazing young people with the Rangtikei Youth Awards 2016. The awards mirrored the national Youth Awards scheme on the theme “Aroha Mai, Aroha Atu - Giving Back is Giving Forward”.
Rangitikei Chief Executive Ross McNeil, says “There are many shining examples of young people who have made significant contributions in our communities. Whether it is taking action to address a need, or motivating and inspiring others, or showing outstanding leadership skills, these Awards will go some small way to recognising and celebrating their achievements.”
The Winners of the Rangitikei Youth Awards 2016 are:
Winona Folau
Change Maker Award: For young people who have created positive change to foster cultural understanding in their community.
Gillian Bowler
Leadership Award: For young people who’ve demonstrated leadership in a project or organisation.
Ellen Carlyon
Youth for Youth Award: For young people whose actions specifically support other young people in areas such as (but not limited to) the arts, culture, environment or sport.
Surf Life Saving Rangitikei College
Youth Group: For a group of young people who’ve made a significant contribution to their community in areas such as (but not limited to) the arts, culture, environment or sport.
The outcome was decided by a panel comprising the Mayor Andy Watson, Tony Booker, Susan Crawshaw, Katarina Hina, Hawea Meihana, Tracey Hiroa and Richard McMillian.
