Update on Wanganui Road construction programme, from Rangitikei District Council and Higgins Contractors

Installation of the kerb and channel is now largely complete with tidy up sections around sumps, pram crossings and ends of runs left to do.

Laying of stormwater pipes is now complete.

Pouring footpath and crossings are scheduled for:

  • Wanganui Road to Dunallen right hand side (heading into Marton) – late May
  • Wanganui Road to Dunallen left hand side (heading out of Marton – towards Huntly) – late May – early June
  • Dunallen to end of work right hand side (heading into Marton) – mid to late May
  • Dunallen to end of work left hand side (heading out of Marton – towards Huntly) – late May – early June.

Construction of the final layer of pavement starts this week.

The site will be busy with construction machinery and trucks delivering materials for the next 2-3 weeks.

Pavement construction and sealing is due to be completed by early June, weather permitting.

Motorists should still expect minor delays until all construction is complete. Thanks to everyone for their ongoing patience while this project is being completed.
