Adoption – Traffic and Parking Bylaw 2017
November 02, 2017
Council now has the ability to enforce parking related matters throughout the Rangitikei. The Traffic and Parking Bylaw 2017 was created to deal with parking and traffic related issues happening throughout the Rangitikei that Council did not have powers to address.
Examples are too many vehicles parked outside residential properties, misuse of disability parks and sale of vehicles on roads. Now, when such issues arise, Council has the ability to use the Bylaw if the issue cannot be solved through discussions with those involved, and enforcement action is needed.
Council officers will be able to start enforcing the Bylaw from 6 November 2017. Sections of the Bylaw related to the use of heavy vehicles are not yet approved (or enforceable), and will be reconsidered at a later date.
