Rain has eased slightly, but is expected to be heavier again later – the prediction is for less than half the rainfall that we had in June 2015. Council staff are continuing to monitor all river levels and any known areas that are prone to flooding; and clearing drains and culverts. It is a timely reminder to make sure the drains and gutters around your property are clear and ensure you have your own household emergency and getaway kit prepared – Civil Defence has some good advice on this http://www.getthru.govt.nz/how-to-get-ready
The Wellington Road Railway underpass is now Open
