Message from Mr Peter Beggs, Chief Executive
June 12, 2020
Over the past weeks, Council’s Executive Leadership Team has been discussing how to ensure that Council is a resilient organisation. That means playing to everyone’s strengths, sharing the load, and acknowledging where change is beneficial – to both the organisation and the people who belong to and support it. All of us have aspirations, needs and underlying conditions. As part of that Michael Hodder and I have agreed that he step aside from his current role, at the end of September, and then take on a part-time advisory role reporting to me. This creates a good transition space for a new group manager and will enable Michael to assist in the formative stages of the various new initiatives which Council will face – not just because of Covid-19, but also through the normal cycle of Council’s agenda as well as its continuing evolution.
I know I am supported by all staff and elected members in thanking Michael for his exceptional service to Council for almost 19 years. I am delighted Michael will continue his valuable contribution to me and to Council in his new advisory role, working from his home in Carterton.
