Improved telecommunications service is coming to Western Bulls.
March 21, 2022
Under the Government’s Rural Broadband Initiative Phase 2 the area of Bulls West is identified as a community that requires improved telecommunication services. This outcome has come as a response to requests from residents for improved broadband and mobile services.
The Rural Connectivity Group (RCG) is building a mobile facility positioned at Rangitīkei Golf Club. The pole will be 20 metres in height and provide enhanced coverage to the community, allowing better mobile and broadband services for all major service providers including Vodafone, Spark and 2degrees.
Build work will commence from late March and the facility is expected to be complete and operational by the end of May.
The map below provides a prediction of the coverage the facility will provide to Spark, Vodafone and 2degrees services – the colour overlaid on the map is where coverage can be reasonably expected. Note – this does not take into account obstructions on the ground and is a desktop analysis only.
The RCG cell sites are running the latest 4G technology. Customers may need to upgrade their mobile phone to enable 4G voice calling. For more information on how to access 4G on your devices, please contact your service provider or click here.
