New devices rolled out across our library network
July 26, 2022
Thanks to support from the Aotearoa Peoples Network Kaharoa (APNK) we’ve been able to upgrade our public computers in our libraries and learning centres.
The new devices include a range of Chromebooks that are lightweight and portable, suitable for our code club and digital learning sessions. Each location also has a new Chrome Station with a large screen suitable for those with different accessibility and those new to technology.
Melanie Bovey, Manager Libraries Services said “our libraries have been going through a digital transformation in recent years and it’s great that we now have the devices to make technology accessible to all.”
“The computers are free to use and we also have free public wi-fi at all our sites. If you are curious about technology or keen to learn a new skill online come and chat to our team.”
APNK is a public libraries and the National Library of New Zealand service. Their purpose is to provide free access to broadband internet and computing equipment so that people can live, learn and create in the digital world. APNK also provide us with ongoing technical support.
Security features mean the devices only work inside our libraries and the devices automatically lock if taken offsite.
