Free school holiday swimming available at Rangitīkei College
Marton Swim Centre contractors Community Leisure Management (CLM) will be operating the Rangitīkei College pool over the summer school holidays, providing free recreational swimming, as well as water safety and swim school classes.
December 31, 2024
In September, Rangitīkei District Council decided to keep the Marton Swim Centre closed for the 2024/25 summer season following a partial roof collapse in May.
Since that decision was made, CLM and Council have been working on alternative options to provide swimming and other leisure activities to Marton residents over the peak summer months.
The pool will be open from 10:00am until 5:00pm each day, from Friday, 3 January until Rangitīkei College students return to school (date to be confirmed still). The only days when the pool will not be available for use is on public holidays. Opening hours could be impacted by weather events also.
Details of the water safety and swim school programme, including costs, will be confirmed at a later date.
CLM will also be running some event days in Marton, including a bouncy castle day in late January and a kite flying event in February.
Any Marton Swim Centre passholders who wish to be refunded their money should contact CLM.
For more details and confirmed timings and dates, please follow the Marton Swim Centre Facebook page.
Rangitīkei District Council would like to say thank you to both CLM and Rangitīkei College for making this arrangement possible, and providing Marton residents with a temporary public swimming pool.
