Marton water update - 24 March

Rangitīkei District Council will begin to phase out the water tanker service that it has offered Marton residents over the past few weeks due to the unpleasant taste and odour in the town’s reticulated supply.

Domestic Water Tanker

Cool temperatures and some regular rainfall has contributed to a reduction of algae in the Tutaenui Reservoir, which in turn has helped to improve the taste and odour of the reticulated water for most residents.

We’ll be reducing the tanker service from two days a week to one, starting on Tuesday 25 March. Should the taste and odour in the water stay stable then we will stop the tanker service on Tuesday 8 April. We’d like to offer our thanks to Nigel at Domestic Water Services for his services during this time.

Residents will still able to collect water from the filter taps at the Marton RSA & Citizens Memorial Hall.

If you are still experiencing taste and odour issues with the water coming out of your taps at home, please contact us on 0800 422 522 and we’ll log a Request for Service with our water reticulation team.
