The donated shed from Powerco will provide a valuable asset for supporting district events and promotions by offering a dedicated space for storage at Council’s King Street depot.
“For a small district we have a very busy calendar of events that happen, especially during the summer when thousands of visitors come to Rangitīkei. Our Council wants to provide infrastructure that ultimately enhances the success and sustainability of these events, and storage is always at a premium, so this will be a massive help,” says Arno Benadie, Council’s GM Assets, Infrastructure & Projects.
Having a single, accessible location for essential equipment such as signage, tables, gazebos and other equipment, will be a huge benefit and means event organisers can operate more efficiently by reducing logistical challenges.
The Arahina substation project is part of work to increase the reliability and resilience of electricity for Powerco’s Marton customers and cater for growth in the area.
Powerco Delivery Planning and Project Manager Mike Carson says supporting local communities is important to Powerco.
“We’re pleased to be able to donate this shed to the Rangītikei community and we thank customers in the area for their patience as work takes place to upgrade the electricity network in Marton.”
Council has several assets that can be utilised by event organisers in the district. If you’d like to enquire about using what we have available, please email events@rangitikei.govt.nz.
