  • Proposed Dixon Way Speed Limit Change

    Council is proposing to change the speed limit from 100km/h to 50km/h along Dixon Way and the short sections of Otaihape Valley Road and Mangaone Valley Roads which link Dixon Way with SH1

  • Representation Review – Pre-Consultation - Closed

    Council is required to review its representation at least once every six years. It is an important process for ensuring electoral arrangements are fair and democratic. It is the community’s chance to have a say on representation – i.e. the number of elected members, how they are elected (wards or at large), and for community boards.

  • Bulls Water Safe to Drink

    Rangitikei District Council is pleased test results showing PFAS levels in Bulls’ water supply are well below the national Drinking Water Guidelines and that the town’s water remains safe to drink.

  • Changes to Parking Restrictions – Marton and Bulls

    In late 2017, Council adopted the Traffic and Parking Bylaw (2017). The parking related provisions came into force on 6 November 2017, with current parking restrictions becoming applicable from this date.

  • Drinking Fountains Installed throughout Rangitikei

    Rangitikei District Council is one of three councils in the region to successfully extend the water-only schools’ initiative beyond the school gates and into the community.

  • Commercial Section for Sale – Bulls

    Rangitikei District Council (RDC) seeks Expressions of Interest for the purchase of vacant land situated in the Commercial Zone at Criterion Street Bulls. The land is located to the rear of the Bulls Medical Centre. Re-survey is under action to confirm boundaries, a separate title will be obtained for settlement of the sale and purchase.

  • Bulls Residents Water Restrictions Lifted

    Update 8.45am, Tuesday, 12 December - Final Update on Bulls Burst Water Main -​​The levels at the reservoir recovered well overnight so all water restrictions are now lifted. Thanks again for your co-operation.​

  • Earthquake-Prone Buildings

    The system for identifying and managing earthquake-prone buildings changed on 1 July 2017. Under the new system Council was required to consult with the community on areas where the strengthening of earthquake-prone buildings should occur faster (in half the time) due to their location in areas where there are high numbers of people or traffic – ‘priority areas’.

  • Adoption of Section 16 Use of Heavy Vehicles – Traffic and Parking Bylaw 2017

    ​The Traffic and Parking Bylaw 2017 was created to address persistent roading and traffic related issues. Section 16 relates to the use of heavy vehicles and is ensure the roading network is protected from damage caused by heavy vehicles which puts other road users at risk.

    The Annual Report is Council’s major accountability statement to the community. Council’s Audit Director has a legal obligation to provide an opinion on such reports, and this was done at Council’s meeting on 5 October 2017.

  • ​Adoption – Traffic and Parking Bylaw 2017

    Council now has the ability to enforce parking related matters throughout the Rangitikei. The Traffic and Parking Bylaw 2017 was created to deal with parking and traffic related issues happening throughout the Rangitikei that Council did not have powers to address.

  • Reuse Shop at Marton Transfer Station

    If you have any items that are too good to throw away bring them to the ‘reuse shop’ at the Marton Transfer Station where they will be sold.

  • Taihape Swim Centre Contract Awarded

    October 20, 2017

    The contract for the Taihape Swim Centre was awarded to West End Aquatics Ltd by the Rangitikei District Council at their meeting on 12 October 2017. Trevor Nicholls and his team from West End Aquatics have been successfully running the Marton Swim Centre for the past five years.

  • Reappointment of Ross McNeil, Chief Executive

    Mayor Andy Watson announced that the current Chief Executive, Ross McNeil, has been reappointed for two years to the role of Chief Executive. Under the provisions of the Local Government Act the Council is allowed to reappoint for a maximum of two years before it has to re-advertise the role.

  • Funding Boost for Bulls Project

    October 18, 2017

    A grant of $200,000 has been received from the JBS Dudding Charitable Trust for the proposed Bulls Community Centre. Mayor Andy Watson, said he was delighted to receive this grant from the Trust. “The Dudding Trust has, since its inception, given out millions of dollars to community organisations in the Rangitikei.
