Composting

Did you know each of our household general wastes contains about 39% organic compostable waste that can be recycled as compost with simple steps.

All that needs to be done is to separate organic waste from other waste and mix them with other recycling brown waste, such as paper and cardboard scraps, and you can compost them in your backyard or use compost bucket.

The compost is extremely beneficial to your garden and on the other hand, you are contributing to reducing landfill waste, so you should be proud that you are helping to save the environment and your resources.

Rangitikei District Council is currently working on a waste minimisation and management plan (WMMP) . Read more about the plans we have for our district here.
