E-Waste Recycling
Rangitīkei District Council is removing electronic waste (e-Waste) from the refuse stream.
e-Waste can be defined as obsolete, broken or end of life electrical or electronic devices. This includes items such as TVs, computer monitors, desktop computers, key boards, servers, printers, scanners, fax machines, photo copiers, cell phones, laptop batteries, DVD and VCR players.
TVs and old monitors contain valuable metals and a large amount of toxic materials such as lead, mercury, cadmium and phosphorus. These heavy metals
pose a serious threat to the environment and our health when not removed from the waste stream in a safe way.
There is a charge to recycle these electronic items. A Council subsidy is applied to help cover the costs.
Please see our current Schedule of Fees and Charges for latest prices.
