Mineral Oil
Oil is only accepted in small qualities (of 20 litres or 20 kilograms) for free at the larger transfer stations in Bulls, Marton and Taihape. They must be given to a Waste Transfer Station Operator in a secure container with information regarding the contents. If over 20 litres or 20 kilograms there will be a charge.
Hazardous Waste
Small domestic quantities (20 litres or 20 kilograms) will be accepted for free at the larger transfer stations in Bulls, Marton and Taihape. They must be given to a Waste Transfer Station Operator in a secure original container with legible information (product description) regarding the contents.
For larger quantities special arrangements need to be made with disposal companies such as TransPacific Industrial Solutions 04 568 0781.
Agrichemical Containers
Agrichemical plastic containers can be returned for recycling to the Marton and Taihape Waste Transfer Stations. These containers must be triple rinsed. The containers will be recycled into culvert pipes.
Scrap Metal Recycling
Scrap metal including car batteries and gas cylinders are accepted at all Transfer Stations.
Large items (such as complete car bodies) that are not easily handled should be discussed with Scrap Metal dealers who may be able to pick up items. Contact Strong Metal Recycling phone 06 354 2974
