Rangitīkei College student 14-year-old Waiatatia Freedom Ratana Karehana has taken 2nd place at Ngā Manu Kōrero national secondary school speech competition in the junior English section. Her speech was called "I tried to keep quiet but my ancestors wouldn't let me". Waiatatia is holding the Regional Cup and 2nd place trophy from the national speech competition.
